When Sarah an Jake first got in touch about their plans to hold a wedding on Mackinac Island, they explained how they wanted it to feel like an experience, an adventure for their wedding guests. Mackinac Island is a little slice of 19th century paradise in Northern Michigan that not many of us get to see too often. There are no cars on the island, and it remains much as it was in the 1800s. I, for one, had never set foot on the island, but had heard tell of it’s horse drawn carriages and fudge ever since I became a Michigander in 2005. Needless to say, this was an adventure I was up for. Four of us, My husband (Mike), Justine (second shooter extraordinaire), Dave (her boyfriend), and myself piled in a car and drove the 5 hours north to forsake our automobile and hop on a ferry to the island. We were greeted by the smell of fudge and, quite frankly, horse sh*t, a mixture I believe one will only find on Mackinac. The entire weekend was a blast, from exploring the Island, sampling the local fare, and teaching the bridesmaids how to Wobble. Here are some photographs of our adventure, and more importantly, some photographs of Sarah and Jake’s matrimonial adventure at The Inn at Stonecliffe.
